What is a Full Classic Car?

The term ‘classic car’ can have many different and widely varying definitions – for example, vehicle registration, insurance, style, age, car clubs, etc.  A common theme is an older car with enough historical interest to be collectible and is worth preserving or restoring rather than scrapping. Our car club, Classic Car Club of America, has a definition that is very strictly limited (see sidebar):

For our club purposes, only certain models of particular vehicles built between 1915 and 1948 are recognized by CCCA as “Full Classics®” and therefore, eligible for display & judging in our activities.

Classic Car Club of America defines a Full Classic® car…

“… as a “Fine” or “Distinctive” automobile, American or foreign built, produced between 1915 and 1948.  Generally, a Classic was high-priced when new and was built in limited quantities.  Other factors, including engine displacement, custom coachwork and luxury accessories, such as power brakes, power clutch, and ‘”one-shot” or automatic lubrication systems, help determine whether a car is considered to be a Classic.”
